DuBOIS - The DuBois Area High School girls soccer team had a couple different things to celebrate Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Beavers recognized Kayla Bishop, Emily DeLarme, Meagan Sanko and Katy Bailley in honor of Senior Day, and an 8-0 shutout of St. Marys qualified DuBois for the district playoffs.
DuBois (9-6-1) had little trouble disposing of the Lady Dutch. Alyssa Sciremammano recorded the hat trick midway through the first half before Jenna Smith added a goal to put the Lady Beavers up 4-0 at the break.
The Lady Beavers added four more in the second half, including two off the foot of Sanko.
Bishop finished with four assists and Bailley added one goal and one assist. Allison Gilmore rounded out the scoring while Lauren Wenard and Sciremammano also picked up helpers as well.
"It was an excellent game," DuBois head coach Jessica Powers said. "We have been really working hard on getting our passes down and communicating to one another. They came out ready to go."
DeLarme and Casey Wilcox combined to post the shutout in net for DuBois. DeLarme made four saves before giving way to Wilcox in the 69th minute.
DuBois outshot St. Marys 30-12. The score could have been even worse if not for Lady Dutch keeper Becky Aul, who made 11 saves.
Aul didn't really have much of a chance stopping Sciremammano, who got behind the defense for each goal on the fastbreak.
Bishop and Sciremammano hooked up for the first two goals. Sciremammano slid a shot past Aul 8:21 into the contest.
Ten minutes later, Aul made the initial save stopping Sciremammano on a breakaway, but she was unable to control the rebound, allowing Sciremammano to score on the easy putback.
Sciremammano used her speed to score less than two minutes later. She raced between two St. Marys defenders to gain possession of the ball before firing a kick to the left past Aul.
DuBois went ahead 4-0 in the 26th minute on Smith's redirection on a pass from Sanko.
Sanko got the Lady Beavers going in the second half, taking Sciremammano's lead pass and then firing a shot over Aul 4:58 into the period.
The Lady Beavers scored twice within a span of 1:54 to go up 7-0 midway through the second half. Bishop set up Bailley for the first tally, and then Gilmore put home a rebound following DuBois' second corner of the half.
Sanko capped the scoring 3:06 later to make it 8-0 with 21:35 left in regulation.
St. Marys had few quality chances to get on the board. Lauren Challingsworth sent a ball in deep to Stephanie Yetzer, who pushed her shot wide left, near the end of the first half.
In the second half, DeLarme got some help from her defense after making an initial save Brittany Orr's shot. A Lady Dutch player was in front of the net to put back the rebound, but Samantha Burt made the stop to keep the shut out in tact.
DuBois returns to action Saturday morning against Karns City at 11 a.m. before closing out the season Tuesday at home versus Altoona.
